Employability

“Employability” is a course designed for you as an individual. You can enrol throughout the year as new courses start every six weeks. The course is flexible in length to suit your needs. The course is designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that will prepare you for employment, an apprenticeship or further study.

What will I do on the course?

Job search, applications, interviews, practical tips and support.
• Improve your CV – both how it looks and what it says about you.
• Reality checks – is your chosen path right for you?
• Improve literacy and numeracy through projects/assignments.
• Teamwork – how to get on with others and work effectively to get things done.
• Strategies for overcoming problems, that really work.
• Action planning – if you fail to plan, you plan to fail – get it down on paper and stick to it with our help.

What Qualifications will I achieve?

• Preparing for Employment Award.
• Sustainable Development Award.
• Money Management Award.
• Functional Skills in Mathematics, English and ICT.
• Personal and Social Development Award.

Entry requirements

• An interest in employment or an Apprenticeship.
• A satisfactory reference.
• You must be between 16 and 18 years old.

How will you be assessed?

• A portfolio of evidence showing that you can perform a range of skills competently.
• Tests on functional Skills. It is possible to re-sit these if you do not pass first time.
