
The course is designed to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding that will prepare you for employment, an apprenticeship or further study.
• Study units from Health and Social Care and Caring for Children qualifications.
• Learn about employment in the health and social care sectors through short work placements, guest speakers and visits.
• Take part in a practical community project to see what it is really like to work in the health and social care area.
• Learn how to cope with minor medical emergencies and first response life saving techniques.
• Join in a project such as healthy living, environmental awareness or making the most of leisure time.
• Volunteering – learn how you can get involved with your community and make a real difference.
• OCR Level 1 National Award in Health and Social Care (Childcare units can be selected from the Optional units).
• Personal and Social Development Award.
• Functional Skills in Mathematics, English and ICT.
• An interest in your chosen vocational area.
• A satisfactory reference.
• You must be between 16 and 18 years old.
• A portfolio of evidence showing that you can perform a range of skills competently.
• Completion of a series of units for each qualification.
• Tests on functional Skills. It is possible to resit these if you do not pass first time.
