Dodge Ball "Clash of the Titans"

"Clash of the Titans" competition 
 
February 10th saw the first of Paston's Dodge Ball Tournament "The Clash of the Titans".  
 
Five brave and determined teams took part - including an élite staff team made up of Sean Cannon, James Hadwen, Nigel McGrath, Justin Loveridge, David Howard and Jess Sewell. 
 
The tournament started with the teams playing each of the other teams to set up who would go forward into a the play-offs.  
Games were fast and furious games and two teams won their first 3 matches and went to the top of the league with clear blue water between them and third place.  
The staff team however took a bit of time to warm up and disappointingly lost each of their first 3 matches before recording a resounding win. 
 
First Round : 
Eggs Guns 12 points 
Chicken Thursday 10 points 
Staff 6 points 
Barbarian Team 6 points 
Short Shorts 6 points 
 
With three teams tied on 6 points there was everything to play for. The Staff team came out all guns blazing and won their play-off matches with the Short Shorts and the Barbarians to secure 3rd place!! Short Shorts finished in 4th and the Barbarian team finishing in 5th. 
 
 
Clash of the Titans FINAL  
 
February 24th saw the FINAL of the Dodge Ball Tournament "Clash of the Titans". Chicken Thursday and Eggs Guns were rearing to go and couldn't wait to do battle to see who would be crowned Paston's first "Kings of Dodge Ball". 
 
The match was best of five and Chicken Thursday took an early lead, going 1 - 0 up. Eggs Guns were not going to let this knock them and they came storming back to win the next two games and go ahead 2-1. Chicken Thursday began to feel the heat and with the pressure on they knew they had to come back strong. The team put out a fantastic display and managed to level the score 2-2. So there was everything to play for in the final match. - it could not have been set up better - all was to be settled in the final exciting contest.  
 
As the whistle went both teams charged for the balls and the chance to end victorious. After a high energy finale Chicken Thursday came out on top, 3 -2 2and so became "Kings of Dodge Ball" at Paston College,  
 
The finalists were as follows 
 
Chicken Thursday 
Kevin Walton, Nick Grapes, Nick Austin, Oli Everett, Tom Newton, Matt Brown and Josh Ralston. 
 
Eggs Guns 
Ashley Maguire, Zack Glaysher, Jack Crane, Vassy Stamatov, Adam Murwald, Oli Vincent and Didzis Isjomins. 
 
Jess Sewell writes - " A huge thank you and well done to Vassy Stamatov who put so much time and energy into helping to organise and run the dodgeball events.
