Use of Mathematics

AQA

Do you need to take Mathematics beyond GCSE but would like to do so in a more practical and less abstract way than the traditional AS/A-level Mathematics course? If so, AS Use of Maths is designed for you.

Mathematics is recognised as a very useful subject, which supports science and other AS/A-level subjects and widens your career options, but we recognise that the traditional AS/Alevel course may take you further than you need or want to go. Use of Maths is more user-friendly and aims to provide you with the Mathematics you will actually use. The course concentrates on the practical application of Mathematics – how to predict the height of the water in Wells harbour at a particular time, the growth of broadband connectivity or the likely spread of a flu epidemic.

We make much use of IT and graphical calculators to reinforce and apply learning.
