Anselm Kiefer Trip
London, November 2014
On November 19th 2014 30 students from The Arts &Technology faculty travelled to London to see this major exhibition by the highly regarded artist, Anselm Kiefer. A number of students carry out research into this artist who many regard as one of the most significant living painters. His work is monumental in scale and refers to historical themes and ideas. He uses ash and rubble in his work to build up densely layered paintings. Josh Hall, a BTEC Extended Diploma student applying to study Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts said ‘ I took a lot from the exhibition. You can get something from seeing his work on screen, but seeing it in the flesh was something else’
Taking students to look at art in the UK, Berlin or Amsterdam is part of the faculties attempts to give our students access to and an understanding of visual culture. It helps the students deepen and expand their outlook which is reflected in their end of year show in June.
