Politics Conference

Politics Conference

Westminster Central Hall, London, December 2013

Paston students undertook their now annual visit to the Student Politics Conference in Westminster Central Hall, Westminster, London to listen to a number of stellar politicians speak on a range of subjects from the Speaker’s role in the House of Commons to same-sex marriage.
As usual there were lots of provocative questions from the 2,000 strong-audience made up of politics and sociology students from all over the UK. Notable speakers included Neil Hamilton, Vice-Chairman of UKIP, Nadine Dorries, Conservative MP and star of I’m a Celebrity …, Simon Hughes, Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrats, and Andrew Mitchell MP, the central figure in the ‘Plebgate’ scandal.
As a veteran of these events, I can honestly say that this was probably the best one yet, even if George Galloway was not able to be there to wind students up in his inimitable way!
