So why do you need to consider this now?

  • Certain degree programmes require certain qualifications – don’t shoot yourself in the foot!
  • Certain degree programmes prefer a specific combination of qualifications – research is key.
  • When you are applying for university, admissions departments will be looking at the results you obtain in your first year at college – REMEMBER: resitting any exams happens after your application has been submitted and offers of places have been made! It is therefore important to do as well as you can in your initial exams.

Advice: if you are not certain what you want to do after college, choose a programme of complementary subjects that strikes a balance between what you enjoy doing and what you are good at. Keep your options as open as possible but be aware that you cannot have an A level programme that prepares you properly for both arts and science degrees. If in doubt ask us for advice.
