Summary

The T-Level Transition Programme provides a high-quality route onto T Levels, for students who would benefit from the additional study time and preparation that it will give them before they start their T Level.

The T-Level Transition year will provide skills and knowledge with a focus on the following core aspects:

  • Knowledge and Skills for the Workplace
  • Industry Relevant Technical Knowledge
  • Skills for Successful Study
  • English, Maths and Digital Skills
  • Positive Attitudes and Behaviours

Entry Requirements

Students will be required to have 5 GCSES at grade 3/D and above - this will need to include either GCSE English Language or Maths at grade 4/C or above.

Students who have not achieved grades 4/C in GCSE English Language or GCSE maths will have to continue to study these qualifications alongside the T-Level Transition Programme.

Successful interview will also be required with a satisfactory reference.

Objective

Key principles for the T Level Transition Programme
1) Provide relevant preparation for what students will experience on T Levels
2) Develop core knowledge, skills and behaviours that prepare students for progressing to level 3 study in their chosen T Level route
3) Help students to make the right decision about what to do after the programme

Assessment

This T-level Transitions programme will include a Level 2 qualification that is internally assessed through written assignments and presentations as well as externally assessed awarding body set tasks.
There will also be an assessed competency-based work placement

Progression

Progression can be to their chosen Level 3 T-Level, employment, an apprenticeship or another course. The expectation is that students wishing to progress to the Level 3 T-Level programme will have met the 90% attendance target plus have demonstrated a good level of performance in terms of work progress, behaviour, also achieving a Merit overall for the Level 2 qualification along with the required GCSE English and Maths grades.

Career Progression

The subject area can lead students into a wide variety of different occupations in a wide range of business environments. Having completed this course, the next step may be to continue their studies either in an apprenticeship or other subject areas.
