Students work towards the University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 2 Creative Media Production and Technology Diploma during one year of study. This course offers an exciting and ideal starting point if you want to pursue a career in the media. It will give you all the skills you need to progress onto the Level 3 course in Media Production and beyond. The course will focus on both practical and theory aspects of media. The course offers the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential to be successful in the creative media industry. The course is made up of 8 units, all of which must be studied and passed.
In addition to your main programme you will also study Maths and English. Depending on your grades on entry you will either study Functional Skills or GCSE. Please check our English and Maths page for further information.

Develop your skills
This course allows you to develop a range of skills and techniques essential to be successful in the creative media industry
Minimum four GCSEs grades 9-3, including English and Maths 9-3. This programme is designed for students who just miss our entry requirements for Level 3 study. It includes an opportunity to improve your GCSE English Language and Maths grades. Candidates will be invited for an interview prior to selection.
You will be assessed through a variety of practical and theoretical tasks. The course is made up of 8 units, all of which must be studied and passed. The University of the Arts London (UAL) Level 2 Creative Media Production and Technology is assessed through a series of projects that are designed to broaden student’s skills, experience and expertise. The projects are multi-disciplinary and require students to work collaboratively and pro-actively with fellow students as well as external clients and stakeholders. A final end-point assessment (commonly referred to as the Final Major Project) decides the student’s overall grade for the year which is graded at: PASS/MERIT or DISTINCTION
Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma will provide direct entry onto the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media.

The course team at both sites also work with local and national higher education providers such as NUA, Suffolk One, London College of Communication and Central St Martins to ensure that our students are ready and prepared for their next step. City College Norwich also has an outstanding Apprenticeship team who can provide advice and guidance for students wishing to follow an Apprenticeship route into the industry.
For those students who choose not to pursue careers within the creative industries the course provides fantastic opportunities to develop collaborative working skills, problem-solving, creative and the higher order evaluative skills demanded by universities and employers.

There will be a levy fee to cover the cost of external field trips and associated materials, which is payable at enrolment.
