What You Will Study
Our T Level in Business Management and Administration Level 3 will arm you with real-world experiences alongside building the core knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into the world of management and administration.
Over the course of the two years, you will study the core elements that form the basis of any business - from what businesses are and how they are formed, to finance, HR, project management, and business behaviours. All important for the success of any business in any industry. In the second year you will continue to work on the knowledge, skills and behaviours that underpin success in any industry, while developing your team leadership and management skills as a speciality. You will focus on managing and developing teams and individuals, building relationships, and making effective business decisions.
You will complete 315 hours of industry placement which will allow you to put your learning into practice and gain valuable business insight to support your development. The standout benefits of this qualification are the combination of classroom learning and real-world experience, all of which will be further enhanced by enrichment opportunities such as trips, visits and guest speakers who have previously come from the UEA, University of Edinburgh, NS Cyber and The Bank of England. Previous students have felt this combination of learning opportunities has better developed their understanding of what they would like to do after college, as well as providing a focus on the key knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to succeed in their course assessments and industry placements.
Our learning environment is reflective of a business boardroom where you can work with your peers effectively, take notes and engage fully with the classroom-based learning. You will also have access to PCs with the required software for your assessments for the qualification.
Entry Requirements
You will need to achieve five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language and maths.
How You Will Be Assessed
You will be assessed in both the first and second year through externally assessed exams, with your result from each year contributing to your overall qualification grade.
In Year 1 (core year) you will complete Core Paper 1, Core Paper 2 and an Employer Set Project (ESP) - similar to a controlled coursework assessment.
In Year 2 (occupational specialism - Team Leadership and Management) you will complete a synoptic occupational specialism assessment – similar to a controlled coursework assessment.
At the end of the programme you will gain a qualification equivalent in size to three A Levels which is recognised by higher education providers as meeting admission requirements to many relevant courses.
Course Progression
Former students have progressed onto university study in subjects such as business management, marketing, and accountancy. Others have secured places on Degree Apprenticeships with employers including McDonald’s, Morgan Sindall and Norfolk Constabulary. You could study a BA (Hons) Leadership and Management degree, a Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship or a CMI Higher Apprenticeship through City College Norwich Higher Education.
Where Your Course Can Take You
The course will also prepare you to go directly into full-time employment, with some of our past students being offered jobs by their industry placement employer, or gaining employment in a range of areas including retail, customer service, banking, sales, marketing and administration. You could also use the knowledge, skills and behaviours you have developed to work independently as an entrepreneur.
Fees
If you are a UK or home fee status student and aged 16-18 on the 31st August before the start of your course, tuition fees are free.
