Paston College students celebrate top results on A Level results day

There were smiles all round our Lawns campus on A Level results day as over 300 students celebrated their achievements and collected their exam results.

This year, 79% of students achieved A* - C grades which places Paston College among the top performing A Level providers in Norfolk.

As the final set of results were revealed, students began to look to the next chapters of their lives with many progressing on to a variety of university level courses across the country as well as employment and apprenticeships. Students also secured places at some of the of the country’s leading universities, including seven offers to Oxford and Cambridge.

Maddy Tully is off to the University of Lincoln to live her dream of studying Law having achieved two As and one B (in Law, History and Maths). Maddy said:

“I chose to study Law so I could study it at university so I’m living the absolute dream right now and I’m so happy! Since being at Paston I’ve come in to myself a bit more and I’ve become more confident. The best thing about Paston is the staff, they’re all brilliant and they want what’s best for you.”

Richard Bennett was accepted to study Computer Games Technology at Anglia Ruskin University and was offered the Vice Chancellor’s Scholarship. He achieved two A*s (in Maths and Further Maths) in his A Levels and a Distinction* and a Distinction in his BTEC Computer Science course.

“I was very happy when I opened my results and feel very happy about starting university, I think I’m going to enjoy the course and I am looking forward to meeting everyone and learning new things. I always enjoy education so I have really enjoyed my time at Paston College – it’s got really nice teachers and the welcoming community here is really nice. Paston is such a step forward from High School, it’s got a bigger community and everyone is more mature."

Mariusz Lizynski achieved five A*s (in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Biology and Chemistry) during his time at Paston College. He is now going to study Mathematics at The University of Warwick.

“I was really pleased when I opened my results – I was hoping for these kinds of results and after weeks of waiting I was really glad that I got them. I feel a bit nervous about going to Warwick but am very excited for the learning that I’ll be doing there. I really enjoyed learning my subjects at Paston and the teachers were very good.”

Head of A Levels, Dean Crosbie, said:

"We are proud of the achievements of all our students, which are a credit to the hard work they have put in over the last two years. This has resulted in some exceptional individual results and an overall increase in the number of A*, A and B grades achieved. We wish all Paston College students the very best as they prepare to move on to a wide range of brilliant destinations, which includes seven offers of Oxbridge places and some incredible apprenticeship opportunities."
