What You Will Study
If you are fascinated by how the human body works, why disease occurs and how medical science is improving lives, Human Biology AAQ is the course for you. This qualification combines scientific knowledge with practical investigation, helping you develop the skills needed for university study and careers in healthcare, biomedical science and life sciences.
You will explore genetics, disease, human physiology, nutrition, neuroscience and laboratory techniques while developing research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
This course forms part of our Health and Social Care Pathway when taken alongside AAQs in Health and Social Care and Mental Health: Individuals and Society. Alternatively it can be taken alongside two other A Level or equivalent courses.
Entry Requirements
- Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English language and a science (biology if this was taken as a stand alone)
How You Will Be Assessed
This course is assessed through external exams and internally arranged assessments.
Course Progression
This qualification may lead to:
- Higher education in human biology, biomedical science, biological sciences or life sciences
- Nursing, midwifery and allied health profession degrees
- Healthcare science and laboratory science pathways
- Degree apprenticeships
- Further specialist science qualifications.
