Joanne McGarva shares how her Paston College journey has seen her reach her ambition of working as an actor.
Performance training
I chose to attend Paston College as I knew of the reputation it had for excellent performance training and the additional opportunities available in this field. I studied Drama and Theatre Studies, Performance Studies, and English Literature at A level.
Training and guidance
College was formative for me, in terms of pursuing a career in the arts. I received excellent training and guidance but most importantly, abundant encouragement.
I received exciting tuition in acting and performance which confirmed for me the path I wanted to take next. The guidance through auditions and next steps was second to none and always personal and encouraging.
Next steps
Since leaving Paston, I toured for two years with Saltmine Theatre Company and went on to spend three years at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. I graduated with a BA in Acting- Musical Theatre. I am was in Manchester touring in a production of 'A Christmas Carol'.
